IN A NUTSHELL:

If you love music, especially country ballads, you’ll enjoy this inspiring documentary and tribute to the lesser-known men and women who wrote the chart-topping songs we love and have been singing for years. TriCoast Worldwide shines a deserved spotlight on some songwriters who finally got their break in Nashville, Tennessee. What an honor it is to take a peek inside the minds of those who are passionate about their craft and have touched so many lives. Toss in some singing and this documentary is a delight.

Some profanity, although an F-bomb was bleeped out.
Kids and some adults might be bored. Not everyone likes documentaries.

THINGS I LIKED:

The rolling credits at the beginning of the movie, mixed with footage, were really good. From the moment the film starts, you’re hooked.
Nashville is such an interesting, vibrant place to visit. I’ve been there a couple of times. “There’s a vibe. There’s an energy about it” is something one of the songwriters said about the city. The film focuses on this musical city that has produced some of the most amazing songs in the world. Did you know that some of the banks in Nashville actually have stages in them where people perform?
You get to see past film footage and photographs, as well as interviews with dozens of great songwriters.
The cast of this documentary includes Aerosmith, Journey, Bill Anderson, Garth Brooks, Luke Bryan, Brandy Clark, Ben Folds, Claude Kelly, Keb Mo, Alison Mosshart, Kacey Musgraves, Brad Paisley, Caitlyn Smith, and so many more!
There is talk of the Bluebird Cafe where legends have been made.
It’s fascinating to watch the creative process of writing a song in several scenes. The songwriting profession is somewhat unique because people collaborate and are willing to train their own competition.
At about an hour into the movie, you’ll see a story that WILL bring you to tears. It’s heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time.

THINGS I DIDN’T LIKE:

It would have been fun to see some of the songwriters chatting with the stars who made their songs famous.
Because I didn’t recognize a lot of the faces of the people being interviewed, I wish their names had been written on the screen each time. Names were shown in the beginning of the movie each time a new person was shown, but it didn’t continue throughout the film.
