IN A NUTSHELL:

The story is about Madeline, a woman whose fiancé dumps her three days before their wedding because she’s too controlling and not adventurous enough.  She decides to go on her honeymoon with her sister where she learns to let go.

The film was directed by Marita Grabiak.  Writing credits go to Carley Smale.

THINGS I LIKED:

  • The leading lady is played by Jocelyn Hudon.  She’s lovely and the super cute costume designs she wore flattered her perfectly.
  • Dan Jeannotte does a good job playing the leading man.  We get to hear him sing a couple of times too.
  • Other cast members include Masa Lizdek, Bert Cardozo, Jinesa Bianca Lewis, Duane Keogh, and Monica Rodriguez Knox.
  • Incredibly gorgeous views and cinematography.
  • I had heard of Niagara Falls my whole life and finally got to go there a few years ago for the first time.  The Falls are extremely impressive, and I got to experience them in several ways: on a boat and under the water falls themselves on the “wet tour.”  So fun!  We hung out on the American side and then crossed the border to see everything from the Canada side.  Both sides were fun and beautiful!  If you go, definitely eat at the buffet on the Canadian side that overlooks the falls.  Yummy and beautiful!  As an American, I sadly admit that the nicer side of Niagara Falls is the Canadian side.
  • It’s light and breezy and you almost feel like you went on vacation by the end of the movie.

THINGS I DIDN’T LIKE:

  • I wonder how much the tourism department paid to have this movie done.  It kind of felt like a giant commercial.
  • Why are the women in these kind of romance movies always so mean and judgy in the beginning?
  • Hallmark movies often rush Act 3.  This one did too.
  • Super formulaic and predictable.
  • There’s a karaoke scene where some of the characters sing.  Sadly, none of the songs were good.  Why put the audience through that?  Luckily, we get to hear a lovely musical number at the very end.
  • It’s super sad that the couple getting married didn’t have any family or friends with them, other than pure strangers they accidentally met a few days prior.
  • The humor is pretty hokey and doesn’t always land.

TIPS FOR PARENTS:

  • Kids will be bored.
  • No profanity
  • Kissing
  • Talk of nagging

THEMES:

  • Spontaneity
  • Romance
  • Anxiety
  • Adventure
  • Pivoting
  • Stepping out your comfort zone
