IN A NUTSHELL:

When Taylor Swift earned a zillion dollars with her Eras tour, she had her show filmed and then earned another zillion dollars with the movie.  Now it’s Lady Gaga’s turn.

This film features Gaga’s incredible stage show at the Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles to a sold-out crowd of 52,000 screaming fans.

No matter what you think of Lady Gaga, you have to admit that she’s an amazing showman and talented performer!

TIPS FOR PARENTS:

  • If your kids are already fans, they’ll enjoy this.
  • Her content is dark and edgy.
  • She shares comments on some social issues from a liberal perspective.

THEMES:

  • Believe in yourself with confidence
  • Love
  • You’re not alone

THINGS I LIKED:

  • The edgy stage production and moving set designs are extremely innovative and dynamic.
  • Lady Gaga has shocked the world with her unusual costumes over the years, and she doesn’t disappoint in this vibrant show, changing her look with almost every song.
  • Kudos to the dancers who brought to life energetic and creative choreography, moving nonstop throughout the entire show.
  • Hearing all of the songs makes you realize how many fantastic hits Gaga has had over the years!
  • The camera often shows audience members singing along, dancing, and loving the moment.  Gaga’s Little Monsters are die-hard fans.
  • Her piano looked like it was forged in the underworld.  You can tell she put a lot of creative thought and intention in every aspect of her show.  In the rolling credits at the end, we learn that she produced, directed, and created the whole shebang.
  • In a quiet moment, she talked to the audience and assured them they were perfect, giving a special loving shout-out to the LGBTQ community.  She said to remind everyone, “Baby, I was born this way.”  During another moment, she encouraged everyone to speak up in matters of pro-abortion, saying everyone should have the right to make choices about their own body.
  • Throughout the show, gigantic screens showed interesting visuals.  Pyrotechnics blasted fire and smoke occasionally.
  • She talked about Bloodpop who produced one of her albums.  She also spotlighted her musicians on the tour.
  • As the show progresses, we see title cards that identify Acts 1, 2, 3, 4, and on to the finale.
  • I’m super impressed with Gaga’s stamina and aerobic fitness.  She danced, jumped, played the piano, gave heartfelt talks, and sang her heart out nonstop for almost 2 hours.

THINGS I DIDN’T LIKE:

  • All of her costumes were dark, sharp, and edgy.  It would have been fun to see her in something soft and light for one of the segments just for variety’s sake. Of course, I’m well aware that the theme of her show was Chromatica!
  • To keep up with the energy of Gaga, herself, the camera often moves too quickly.
  • I heard that Lady Gaga did the actual editing of the movie, which is not her strength.  I love that she wanted to be so involved with every aspect of the show though.
