We all know that celebrities in film and TV have a huge influence on all of us, from clothing and makeup trends to hairstyles, taste in music, expectations in relationships, and that rich and famous lifestyle we wish we had. Moviegoers have drooled over film stars for decades, but a new age has added even more people to watch: the Influencer. Almost any young, cute, vivacious Millennial or Zoomer with a camera can grab our attention and influence how we spend our time and money now.
As a world, we’ve become addicted to following them. Maybe it’s because they seem more like “normal” people like us than the Hollywood elite. Maybe it’s because we want to live vicariously through other people whose lives seem more fascinating than our own. In fact, popular Youtuber Joe Santagato just started a podcast entitled “Other People’s Lives.”
He’s not the only Influencer spreading to other platforms. Social Media Influencers have now branched out to other platforms including YouTube and podcasting.
As podcasting becomes even more popular, entertaining social media Influencers like Hannah Berner and inspiring athlete Influencers like Brooke Ence and Jeanna Cianciarulo are expanding their reach by starting podcasts. Will we see them on the Big Screen soon? In a word: yes. We’ve already seen comedian Michelle Buteau on Netflix and now she has a new podcast.
Fans of the popular Drake & Josh TV show will love listening to hilarious Josh Peck. He interviews other actors, which will probably inspire more celebrities to start their own podcast. In fact, Ashlee (Holmes) Malleo, who starred as the sassy daughter of The Real Housewives of New Jersy star Jacqueline Laurita, also has her own popular podcast!
By the way, did you know I have a podcast too? It’s true!
Influencers are impacting everyday life and business decisions. Companies both large and small are looking for Influencers as part of their overall marketing strategy nowadays. It’s most definitely “a thing”! The companies that promote visual products that an Influencer can wear or hold in their hands are benefiting the most, but these young thought leaders can also boost substantial sales just from their word of mouth.
Influencers can help businesses by reviewing products, showing images of them with the products, or even interacting with the product in a video. I’m no huge Influencer in the world YET, but I definitely love to talk about movies and give you the scoop on which ones are worth your time and money. I hope that my reviews help you and your family decide which movies are right for you. My goal is to expose you to lots of different kinds of movies, offer a recommendation, and then let you make the choice. Well, that’s exactly what Influencers do!
At first, I just wrote movie reviews on my blog. Then, fans kept asking me to turn them into YouTube videos. With the additional YouTube exposure, the Movie Review Mom brand has grown and expanded. Now, I’m being invited to speak at film festivals, Comic conventions, and on various podcasts and radio shows. It’s been so much fun! As my audience has grown, so have my opportunities to align with brands in Influencer marketing. I was even given a 2 full-page spread in a magazine last year. My business has grown and I have even bigger things planned for later this year!
I take the Influencer role very seriously, as I know your trust in me is something I don’t ever want to break. A good Influencer is honest and always puts his/her followers’ interests first. I want you to know how much I truly appreciate your trust and support!
It’ll be interesting to see which Influencers transition into big-time movie stars in the future.
