This sports comedy released exclusively on The Daily Wire platform on December 1, 2023.
RATING: TV-14
LENGTH: 1 hour 52 minutes
MOVIE REVIEW MOM GRADE: B+
IN A NUTSHELL:
The satirical story is about a down-on-his-luck former high school basketball coach who is willing to do anything to win, which is what we’re seeing in real life: men claiming to be women so they can dominate in women’s sports.
The film was directed and written by Jeremy Boreing. He also stars in it and is the co-founder of the Daily Wire, which produced it.
THINGS I LIKED:
- This is the first comedy made and produced by the Daily Wire. The cast includes Daniel Considine, Jake Crain, David Cone, Blain Crain, Tyler Fischer, and more. We even get to see Daily Wire champions like Ben Shapiro, Michael Knowles, Spencer Klavan, Candace Owens, Andrew Klavan, Jordan Peterson, and Brett Cooper.
- My husband and I are big fans of Ben Shapiro, so we both laughed out loud when Ben played the referee. His only line was “Guys, I’m getting paid fifty bucks to be here. I don’t care.” ha ha
- There’s a lot of spoken and visual humor.
- I laughed when there was a short ad for Jeremy’s razors. Good for him. It was a tongue-in-cheek shameless plug and I didn’t mind it one bit.
- I loved that Riley Gaines got a short cameo. Another fun cameo is Ted Cruz.
- Crain, who is a sports journalist played a character who said, “Is every journalist literally a lunatic?” ha ha
- This was the first time I’ve heard “Trans-Age.” Of course, it’s a joke, but I wouldn’t be surprised if that actually starts happening in this crazy world.
- Slow-motion scenes always make me laugh out loud, no matter the movie.
- You could readily tell that the team had a blast making this movie.
- Keep watching a few minutes after the final credits begin to roll for another funny clip. After that, there’s nothing else.
THINGS I DIDN’T LIKE:
- It definitely looks like a low-budget movie.
- Those on the left will most likely criticize the film without even watching it.
- The humor doesn’t always land. The movie’s laughs come mostly from seeing the serious Daily Wire hosts do such goofy things.
- There will be many who say this film is completely Transphobic and insensitive. I hope viewers will understand it’s a farce that looks at the complex, insane world in which we now live.
- I have friends and extended family who belong to the Trans community, and I know they’ll be very offended.
TIPS FOR PARENTS:
