This dark, high-octane action dramedy premieres in theaters on Friday, September 12, 2025

RATING: R
LENGTH: 1 hour 45 minutes

IN A NUTSHELL:
The story is about a paramedic who is so burned out that he finally finds another job but he has to first finish his last chaotic 24-hour shift to train his replacement.
The film was directed by Christopher Leone. He also co-wrote it with former real-life paramedic Patrick Pianezza.

TIPS FOR PARENTS:
- This is not appropriate for kids for several good reasons.
- Lots of profanity, crude language, and F-bombs
- We see a man in nothing but his underwear
- Lots of violence
- Vomit everywhere. Bleh.
- We see a gross man’s private parts. Bleh.
- Bloody images
- People die.

THEMES:
- Paramedic life
- Emergencies
- Healthcare in America
- Public services
- Hard jobs
- Building emotional walls

THINGS I LIKED:
- I don’t know why, but I always get a kick out of it when characters break the 4th wall and talk to the audience.
- We get to learn some interesting facts about paramedics, medications, dirty needle sticks, people’s salaries in the medical field, etc.
- You just might see and appreciate paramedics differently after watching this movie. It’s crazy how hard they work, what they endure, and for such low pay. If you want to donate or learn more about the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians, go to www.laemt.org
- The cast includes Rainn Wilson, Lil Rel Howery, Rob Riggle, Yvette Nicole Brown, and Aimee Carrero.
- There is a nice blend of comedy, action, and humor with heartfelt moments of humanity.
- It’s interesting to watch how the various public services help and cause difficulties for one another all while trying to aid those in the community.
- You’ll laugh. You’ll cry. This film is filled with emotional heft.
- There’s a great reveal in Act 3.

THINGS I DIDN’T LIKE:
- The tone bounces around a lot.
- I could do without all of the F-bombs, but they sure are used effectively to verbalize the insane frustration some of the characters feel.

FUNNY LINES:
- “Who’s your friend?” – Mike (Lil Rel Howery) “Nobody. Student ride-along…not a real person.” – Randy (Rainn Wilson)
- “People are mean. You’ll see.” – Randy (Rainn Wilson)
- “I don’t have to go to the hospital, do I ‘cuz I don’t have insurance.” – injured man “Nah, don’t worry about that. They’re just going to send you a soul-crushing bill later on.” – Randy (Rainn Wilson)

INTERESTING LINES:
- “I’m a paramedic, so I’m always stressed.” – Randy (Rainn Wilson)
- “If I make one mistake, someone could die…and I’m burning out.” – Randy (Rainn Wilson)
- “People live. People die.” – Randy (Rainn Wilson)
- “I can fix broken. I can’t fix dead.” – Randy (Rainn Wilson)
- “Now if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go back to never being done.” – Dr. Serano (Rob Riggle)
- “This job breaks everybody.” – Randy (Rainn Wilson)
- “If I ever need saving, I hope it’s you who shows up.” – Jessica (Aimee Carrero)
- “Yeah, the system is still broken, but what am I supposed to do: quit trying?” – Randy (Rainn Wilson)

Its like you read my mind! You appear to know so much about this, like you wrote the book in it or something. I think that you can do with some pics to drive the message home a little bit, but other than that, this is excellent blog. An excellent read. I will definitely be back.
