IN A NUTSHELL:

After the spirited success of the movie FREE GUY ( https://amzn.to/3tR5cKE ), director Shawn Levy teams up with Ryan Reynolds again in this fun time-traveling movie on Netflix. In this snappy, family-friendly movie, Ryan Reynolds plays the pilot Adam Reed who teams up with his 12-year-old self for a mission to save the future by erasing time travel, which his late father discovered.

THINGS I LIKED:

I love the snappy comments that Ryan Reynolds’ characters are always known for. Sure, he usually plays the same type of character in every film, but I get a kick out of him still. The casting of young Adam is spot on for a young Ryan Reynolds. I loved watching them together and it was completely believable. They have incredible chemistry and I’m super impressed with Walker Scobell’s young talent.
The A-list cast also includes Mark Ruffalo, Jennifer Garner, Zoe Saldana, and Catherine Keener. All but Catherine have played Marvel characters.
It’s fun to see Jennifer Garner and Mark Ruffalo together again. They both starred in the adorable rom-com 13 GOING ON 30. You can rent it at https://amzn.to/3MH21Oe
The cute Golden Retriever is actually Jennifer Garner’s dog named “Birdy”.
The cool tech, spacecraft, and weapons are awesome.
I’ve never heard a goatee called a mouth mullet before. ha ha
Punchy soundtrack
Lots of action, as well as heartwarming conversations mixed with comedic beats in every scene.
The science is interesting and mind-bending, but the heart of the movie is the family and the relationships.
There is sweet resolution in the end.
There are some fun references to other movies like Star Wars.
Shawn Levy is great at including fun Easter Eggs for fans. For example, there is a scene when Ryan Reynolds and Mark Ruffalo open up a box with sports equipment inside. On the lid are a bunch of stickers, including one that shows Deadpool and another that shows The Hulk. Cute.

THINGS I DIDN’T LIKE:

For a family-friendly movie, this one had too much profanity. I hate it when kids swear.
Some of the pixelated faces don’t look good at all.
It’s somewhat predictable but still completely entertaining.
There are some sciency things that aren’t explained well, so just don’t overthink it and you’ll enjoy the movie more.
