IN A NUTSHELL:

THE BOND tells the remarkable, moving, and surprising stories of fascinating characters from all walks of life who have formed deep bonds with creatures from across the animal kingdom. These bonds change the lives of both humans and animals, and each episode will illustrate just how much we have to offer each other.

Spanning the globe, the four-part series takes an intimate look at the unique bond between animals and humans, spotlighting these relationships in its purest forms.

THE BOND is produced for discovery+ by Team Downey, Glen Zipper, and Sean Stuart.  Team Downey was created by actor/Iron Man Robert Downey Jr.

THINGS I LIKED:

  • It’s very sweet to see the relationships between the animals and humans.
  • The lifestyle that these humans live is not traditional in any way.  It’s admirable to see the sacrifices the humans make in order to care for the animals they love.
  • It’s fun to learn more about these unique animals.
  • We see a woman in Australia who cares for kangaroos, an American woman who earned the trust of dolphins, a married couple who travels the USA with their goat, and a South African couple that protects Cheetahs.

THINGS I DIDN’T LIKE:

  • Some people may get the idea to do something similar, but they need to be extremely careful and consider all of the consequences and sacrifices that are required.  Three out of the four episodes demonstrate the animals in the wild.  The humans in the show recognize that the animals are not their pets but deserve to live their lives in the wild.

TIPS FOR PARENTS:

  • Your kids are going to want to have special adventures and bonds with animals like they see in this show.  Talk to them about the responsibilities and funding that are required to care for such animals.
  • Talk of illegal animal trading.

THEMES:

  • Animals
  • Environment
  • Conservation
  • Human/animal bonds
