MOVIE TITLE: The Intruder
RATING: PG-13
LENGTH: 1 hour, 42 minutes
Movie Review Mom GRADE: B
IN A NUTSHELL:
Because the movie is so cliched and predictable, it plays more like a comedy of sorts, rather than a surprising suspense film. A married couple buys a home in Napa Valley and then gets terrorized by the former homeowner. Dennis Quaid is really fun to watch as the unhinged bad guy. It’s one of those kinds of movies where you shout at the screen and have fun without overthinking it.
TIPS FOR PARENTS:
- Some profanity
- A man shoots, kills, and guts a deer.
- A married couple gets romantic a couple of times. You see some skin and erotic positions.
- You see a man watch a TV show with a lion attacking a zebra.
- You see the silhouette of a naked woman in a shower.
- Violence with guns, knives, and hand-to-hand combat, some with blood
- A crazy guy stalks a couple
THEMES:
- “Living the dream.” – Scott Russell (Michael Ealy)
THINGS I LIKED:
- There is something about Dennis Quaid’s charming smile that makes him perfect as a good guy or a creepy psycho in whatever movie he’s in.
- Michael Ealy and Meagan Good work well together. The last time we saw them together was in the Think Like A Man franchise.
- There are some fun jumps and scares, although nothing we haven’t seen before.
THINGS I DIDN’T LIKE:
- The movie ends so abruptly.
- It’s super predictable.
- It’s fun but forgettable.
- The movie poster is not very good. It makes the beautiful Meagan Good look like a boy.
INTERESTING LINES:
- “Teamwork makes the dream work.” – Annie Russell (Meagan Good)
