MOVIE TITLE: Twas the Night
This Christmas caper releases on Video On Demand on December 3, 2021
RATING: PG-13
LENGTH: 1 hour 23 minutes
IN A NUTSHELL:
A newly engaged couple tries to impress their soon-to-be in-laws with a lovely Christmas Eve dinner but finds it a difficult task to complete while hiding the body of Santa in their house.
The film is written and directed by both Chris Rodriguez and Grant Rosado.
This is not related at all to the 2001 Christmas movie T’was the Night .
THINGS I LIKED:
- The opening sequence and musical score immediately put me in the mood for a fun Christmas flick.
- I’m not Catholic, but I thought the church featured in the movie at the 10-minute mark was really pretty.
- There are a lot of scenes without dialogue or background music.
- It’s kind of cute that the boyfriend’s name is Nick. You know… St. Nick.
- It’s also kind of cute that Jesus is the name of the character who volunteers to be Santa.
- The house featured in the movie is really pretty.
- The closing credits and music were cute.
THINGS I DIDN’T LIKE:
- Some really bad acting moments
- Clunky dialogue with awkward conversations.
- Stiff blocking.
- Who works as a Santa on a residential street?
- The reason the female protagonist got so ticked off and “had a bad day” was super lame.
- None of the characters are very likable.
- The plot is ridiculous.
- Who gets engaged without having a conversation about values and religious beliefs?
- The humor doesn’t quite land with amateur pacing.
TIPS FOR PARENTS:
- Some profanity.
- An unmarried couple lives together
- Don’t be that nosy kind of judgmental parents as seen in the movie!
- Blood
- Dishonesty
THEMES:
- Kindness
- Patience
- Forgiveness
- Religion
- Anger management
INTERESTING LINES:
- “They believe whatever they hear. They’re ignorant.” – Holly (Nicole Pringle)
- “You can only be as happy as the person next to you.” – Santa/Jesus (Abel Rosario)
- “People only respect you as much as you respect yourself.” – Eve (Lisa Panagopoulos)
