IN A NUTSHELL:
Studio C is a group of college students who did comedy sketches in the style of Saturday Night Live, except they’re clean. After graduating, the team of comedians stayed together and continued to create their magic on YouTube and other places. Last year, they filmed a feature film called Go West.
Jeremy Warner is one of the original cast members of Studio C, so I was curious to see how he would do in his directorial debut of a feature film. He also co-wrote the film with Jason Gray and Matt Moen. As a fun cameo, the director has a tiny role early in Act 1. Already, it has won 4 awards from various film festivals, including Best Feature Film. Kudos to the team!
This movie is about a group of villains who band together after their boss dies.
THINGS I LIKED:
- For fans of Studio C, they can do no wrong. Their cast of chameons have created memorable characters with charm. This movie adds more to the list presented by Mallory Everton, Jason Gray, Billy Mann, Stacey Harkey, Matthew Meese,
- The movie poster caught my eye initially because of Colin Mochrie. He was absolutely genius and hilarious in the popular TV show “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” What a quick wit. I’m always happy to see him in anything.
- Once I looked at the movie poster, I suddenly noticed Mallory Everton. She’s a talented comedienne from the funny sitcom show “Studio C”. I was excited to see her be featured in a starring role.
- There’s a lot of slapsticky, physical humor. I like that but those who don’t enjoy that kind of comedy probably won’t like this film.
- If you like superhero movies but are tired of the traditional ones, this just might strike your fancy.
THINGS I DIDN’T LIKE:
- Unfortunately, a lot of the humor just doesn’t land.
- The film definitely looks and feels like a low-budget indie, but that’s simply because it is. With some more practice, this team will be pumping out some true gems.
- The script is a bit messy.
TIPS FOR PARENTS:
- Superhero violence
- No profanity. Yay! Thank you, Studio C!
- People are in perilous situations
- Various characters die in non-bloody ways

- “Harold, are you okay?” – Cain (Jason Gray) “Fine. Hungry and gassy.” – Harold (Colin Mochrie)
