IN A NUTSHELL:
I rarely turn off movies before I’ve finished watching them because I want to be able to give you a full review; however, some movies are just too trashy and stupid to keep going. I saw enough to confidently tell you that this movie is pure garbage.
The story is about a slutty, boozed-out, young lawyer who agrees to go undercover at her old university to help her boss’ son succeed at college life.
The film was directed by Andy Palmer. The writers were Todd M. Friedman and Kevin Haskin, who were either living out their college fantasies or really did waste those years being wasted.
Totally disappointing.
THINGS I LIKED:
- I like Britt Robertson as an actress. She usually plays sweet, likable characters. In this movie, she plays an irresponsible jerk that I didn’t like from the very first glance of her during the opening rolling credits.
- Wendie Malick’s character appears briefly. I’ve always gotten a kick out of her varied roles, so I wanted to see more of her in this. Her character’s existence in the story is random and completely contrived.
THINGS I DIDN’T LIKE:
- The plot is ridiculous. Why would a mother hire someone to mentor her son in college who she knows is a totally irresponsible mess herself?
- As a university professor, I’m not blind to how college students live and behave; however, it’s still super frustrating to see students make terrible decisions and waste their time and brains on endless partying. I felt like I lost some brain cells just watching this piece of trash.
- Why is Ollie friends with Molly when she treats him like garbage?
- It’s not funny. What humor exists is in the gutter.
- Ollie has a terrible job at the beginning of the movie, yet somehow has rich parents who don’t mind financing college raves.
TIPS FOR PARENTS:
- This movie shows terrible behavior and is not appropriate for kids.
- Crude behavior and conversations
- A mother takes her son to a strip joint and encourages a lap dance
- Profanity, including F-bombs
- We see a guy smoke a joint
- TONS of alcohol
- Unmarried college students sleep around like crazy
- It makes college look like a nonstop drunken orgy
