MOVIE TITLE:     Resisting Roots

This sex-filled romance movie by Passionflix is now available in select theaters and on Video on Demand.

RATING:    PG-13

LENGTH:      1 hour and 31 minutes

MOVIE REVIEW MOM GRADE:  F   Obviously, I hated this movie.

IN A NUTSHELL:

Genevieve Harper makes the most out of raising her two siblings after their parents’ tragic accident. Trent Fox is known for being a player on and off the baseball field. Can love grow between them?

This is the first Passionflix movie I’ve seen.  I thought this was going to be a sweet romance with some yoga tossed in as a theme. It’s based on the book by Audrey Carlan, which I have never read.  If you want a combination of a Hallmark movie and Fifty Shades of Grey, this is your movie.

Based on this movie, I’m guessing Passionflix is a soft porn company?  I’m definitely not their target audience then.

THINGS I LIKED:

  • There’s eye candy for everyone.  The romance stars the beautiful Elizabeth Posey and the hunky Lou Ferrigno Jr.  In case you didn’t notice his last name, he’s the son of the famous Lou Ferrigno, most famous for the original The Incredible Hulk
  • I love all of her cute yoga outfits.
  • I love movie titles that have a double meaning.  In the case of this movie, “roots” refers to both settling down and the root chakra.

THINGS I DIDN’T LIKE:

  • The main is a total boozer and player, so I immediately didn’t like him.  She’s a slut who sends so many mixed messages that I didn’t like her either.
  • A lot of the dialogue is super cheesy and forced.
  • So much lip gloss, even when she’s going to bed or in the hospital.
  • I know I’m super old-fashioned, but the couple makes out and gets intimate before they’ve even gone on a proper date.  The movie focuses on sex rather than true romance.
  • If someone were breaking into your house, would you call your sister or 911 first?  Some of the situations in this movie are absolutely ridiculous.
  • There is some serious toxic masculinity going on here.
  • Almost every line that is spoken has sexual innuendo.
  • Other than the physical attraction to one another, we don’t get to see any substance to their relationship.

TIPS FOR PARENTS:

  • This is a terrible movie for kids to watch.  It’s all about getting into bed.
  • Lots of profanity and F-bombs
  • Lots of suggestive moves during yoga classes
  • We see a shirtless man several times.
  • We hear moaning and groaning while…
  • You see a condom.
  • A woman gets knocked up.

THEMES:

  • Second chances
  • Romance
  • Settling down
  • Lack of self-control

FUNNY LINES:

* “Every time I’m around him I feel like a lust-driven teen.” –  Genevieve   (Elizabeth Posey)

INTERESTING LINES:

* “Keep it real.” –  Dara  (Tatiana Le’Joy)

DUMB LINES:

  • “Money is money.” – Genevieve  (Elizabeth Posey)
