IN A NUTSHELL: This movie was not what I expected. It will catch you off guard. You can say the trailers are misleading or else you can enjoy the twist. It has been getting terrible reviews, but I kind of liked this noir fish tale. Serenity (2019) by the way, is the name of the boat in the movie.

TIPS FOR PARENTS:

Pre-marital hanky-panky with some skin and sound effects.
You see a naked man from the rear. Later, you see a naked woman from the rear.

THINGS I LIKED:

I really like Anne Hathaway and she’s good in this film, as always. The last time she and Matthew McConaughey were together in a film was Interstellar, which I also really liked.
Also great actors in the film were Jason Clarke and Djimon Hounsou.
Fans of Mathew McConaughey will be happy to know that he takes off his shirt, of course. You’ll actually see his entire backside, if you must know.
In case you’re wondering, the movie was filmed in Mauritius.

THINGS I DIDN’T LIKE:

There are some things that really don’t make sense if you think about it. Try not to think about it.
I got to meet the lovely Diane Lane several years ago at a conference we both attended. She was gracious and kind, allowing me to take a picture with her. I was disappointed that she didn’t have a larger role in the movie.
